* IOP/WISH Washington, D.C. Housing

For Summer 2006, the IOP will be working with Washington Intern Student Housing (WISH) to offer housing to Harvard/IOP students interning in our Nation's Capitol. The advantage to using WISH through IOP is a reduction of $75 off the processing fee. Also, WISH Summer Housing ends August 25, thereby allowing Interns to live there until the very end of their summer internships.
Students must apply on their own through WISH but also identify themselves as Harvard/IOP students. WISH will try to accommodate Harvard/IOP Interns in the same townhouses and apartments. If a student selects WISH Housing, please list Karin Kane Bloom (IOP Internships Coordinator- Karin_Kane@Harvard.edu) as the University Coordinator on the application. Please also let Mrs. Kane Bloom know that you will be in this group to ensure the price reduction.
WISH provides furnished intern townhouses and apartments on historic Capitol Hill. Locations are within blocks of the Capitol grounds and a short walk to red-, orange- and blue-line Metro trains. Furnishings include utilities, wireless internet access, cable TV, cookware/dishware, on-site laundry facilities and more. The summer semester is May or June 1st through August 25th. Apply free online at www.internsdc.com or call toll-free 1-800-461-9280 ext. 33. *Students waiting for acceptance letters or security clearance should note that WISH security deposits are refundable if cancellation is made one month or more prior to the start of the semester.

* SUMMER STIPENDS FOR PUBLIC SECTOR INTERNSHIPS

The Institute of Politics offers a limited number of stipends to enable undergraduates returning to Harvard in the fall to accept summer jobs in local, state or federal government, public interest groups, non-governmental organizations and political organizations that operate within the United States. Students are responsible for obtaining employment, and the job should be full-time and last a minimum of six weeks. Awards of up to $2,500 will be made on a competitive basis with consideration given to the substance, location, and value of the job to the applicant as well as financial need. The Financial Aid office will provide the selection committee with a general evaluation of each applicant's financial need, including summer work study status.

Applications for Summer Stipends are online at
www.iop.harvard.edu and are due no later than April 20, 2006.

* KSG Graduate Level Stipends for Summer Internships with Political Campaigns

The Institute of Politics (IOP) is offering four summer internship stipends to Kennedy School of Government students. The stipends are for students who will be interning with an active political campaign or with a third party organization who is engaged in political activities related to campaigns. The IOP is funding these types of summer internships because they are ineligible for the KSG Summer Internship Fund. The campaigns can be with Republicans, Democrats, or with any other party, however, the distribution of the stipends will be equal amongst parties.

KSG Students are responsible for obtaining employment, and the position should be full-time and last a minimum of eight weeks. Summer stipends are intended to benefit students with non-paying or low-paying positions. KSG Students must be returning to school in the fall to qualify.

Awards of $2,500 will be made on a competitive basis with consideration given to the financial need, substance, location, and potential value of the job to the applicant.

All Completed Applications due by Thursday, April 21, 2006 at 4:00 PM. Email Karin_Kane@Harvard.edu with questions or pick up application in letter box at her office, L274, IOP.
